Martha Skipper

Career Center

Martha Skipper manages office administration, booking spaces, coordinating meetings, and making sure new team members are welcomed with nametags and swag. Additionally, Martha reports any and all building concerns whether it is a temperamental elevator, irregular temperatures, or backed up sewage in the bathrooms. Perhaps more chaotic, she maintains the schedule of AVP Rob Lidell. According to one coworker: "She seems to always know if he's just around the corner or if he's in a meeting at Westcott or is needed at a protest across campus. She has spidey senses to know who is needed when and where and for what purpose."

Martha had 5 nominations from her coworkers, and all had heartfelt responses: "Martha is approachable, supportive, reliable, unfailingly cheerful, and pleasant. She resolves issues before they become problems, and resolves problems before they become huge. She exudes goodwill and patience, and because of her demeanor, I always feel supported and valued when I interact with her."
"Martha is a delight to have in the office. She is full of institutional knowledge, a willingness to support every staff member, and the organizational skills to help our office run effectively."
"She promotes a fun, reliable, and collaborative work environment for all."
"Martha is known far and wide as the cultural ambassador of the Career Center. Her can-do attitude is infectious and her gracious spirit invites full engagement of others."
"Martha truly epitomizes positivity and is the heart of our office environment. She promotes a consistently pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, greeting everyone who walks through our doors with warmth and kindness. Her sunny attitude sets the tone for our workplace culture and contributes greatly to team morale. Martha is exceptionally reliable. Whether supervising our student workers or handling essential administrative responsibilities, she ensures that operations run smoothly and efficiently. She also manages unexpected office challenges—such as broken elevators, heating issues, or water leaks—with calm professionalism and a solutions-oriented mindset. Her ability to navigate these issues seamlessly reflects both her excellent job performance and her innovative approach to problem-solving."
We couldn't have said it better ourselves! As you approach retirement, it is clear that your contributions extend far beyond your job description and that your coworkers appreciate your work and personality! The Division thanks you for all you do.
